Feb. 24 Incident Update

Statement from Impala, 2/24/13, 3:30 pm CST

At approximately 9:00a.m. (CST) today, we can confirm that an accident occurred at Impala’s Burnside Terminal in Louisiana in which a contractor was fatally injured.

In spite of the fast intervention by the medical services, the contractor was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Gonzales, Louisiana.

As stated in an Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office news release, the accident occurred near the conveyor belt area of the plant. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. Operations are currently suspended at the Burnside plant.
